Man arrested for comments made on police FB page

A man was arrested for making "offensive comments" on the Facebook page of Bangladesh Police.

Munshiganj Judicial Magistrate's Court sent Mizanur Rahman, 26, from the district's Sreenagar Upazila to jail at 12:30 yesterday.

The Daily Star was confirmed by Jamal Uddin as the Munshiganj court inspector.

Mohammad Kamruzzaman (officer-in-charge) at Sreenagar Police Station said that a case had been filed against the accused under the Information and Communication Technology Act (2006)

Mizanur was taken from his home in Sreenagar, upazila on Wednesday. He was brought before the court the next day.

He further stated that the accused had recently returned from overseas and was now jobless.

Contacted, no top official of the district police stated what Mizanur said in the "derogatory comment".

Sources claim that police officers were also sent from Dhaka to Munshiganj to arrest the suspects.
